    fine view
    cozy room
    dog smell

The view from the room was fine, especially with a telescope available for stargazing. The room itself was cozy and equipped with a fridge and coffee maker, perfect for a little late-night snack or drink.

I had some trouble with the lingering dog smell in the room, which required airing out. The use of cleaning products triggered my asthma, made for an uncomfortable night. I ended up using my inhalers more than usual.

Location very close to Castle of May and Dunnet Head and the Pentland Ferries terminal at Gills Bay, Gills Bay, and coast. Amazing location and excellent and GREAT breakfast with many choices.

Our rooms were modern and neat with a dog bed, bedside table, as for instance. An electric kettle, fridges and a washing machine were a big plus. Thanks to the outstandingly accommodating staff everything was very comfortable, including lots of lovely food. Thoroughly enjoyed the location on coast. Also, the hotel was set at a short distance from Castle of Mey.

    Nothing, no complaints at all!

    really good breakfast
    thoughtful touches
    ground-floor room
    minor overlook

The breakfast was a real gem, with local produce that had me buzzing with delight! The room was spacious and the hosts, keeping it comfy with lots of thoughtful touches.

I only had one night there, and the ground-floor room felt a tad overlooked, but honestly, it didn't put a damper on our lovely stay.

    really good breakfast
    remote location
    dog odor

Really good breakfast experience with friendly service.

There was a noticeable smell of dogs in the room that lingered despite airing it out. I was also frustrated by the use of cleaning products that triggered my asthma, which significantly disrupted my sleep.

    friendly welcome

    Couples seeking a cozy getaway

The hosts were great when they helped us with our luggage and gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. We even had a lovely large room with everything we needed and an ensuite shower.

It wasn't exactly cheap but still manageable given the quality of the stay.

    really good breakfast
    inconsistent water pressure

    Breakfast banter with a view

The breakfast spread was really good, with generous portions and a good variety of local products. Our hosts were engaging, sharing captivating stories and local lore while we enjoyed our meal.

While the water pressure was a bit inconsistent, the hosts kindly informed us beforehand so we knew what to expect, making it a minor concern in the grand scheme of things.

    remote location
    poor breakfast

The remote location was just too much to handle, I mean how are you not near any shops? Breakfast was basic at best and the lack of a welcome gift for such a dramatic arrival was disappointing, I almost thot about giving a good review but just couldn't. I mean really, expectations were high.

    spacious room
    helpful staff
    cleaning products

Graham was super helpful, offering to carry our luggage and explaining everything in our lovely, spacious room that had a fridge and coffee machine. We enjoyed relaxing in the cozy lounge and soaking up the garden views during our stay. The only little hiccup was that the cleaning products used caused me to need my inhaler a bit more than usual, but it didn't ruin the experience at all. 😊

    delicious breakfast

It was just a great fit for a fleeting pause in Mey with good value for price. The local produce at breakfast was delicious, and the friendly staff made it even better. Make sure to try the fresh fruits in the morning.

    cozy room
    delicious breakfast
    overly engaging hosts
    minimal privacy

Really good breakfast and cozy amenities

The breakfast was a standout, offering an array of fresh fruits and warm croissants to start the day. It would have been nice to have a bit more privacy during breakfast as the hosts were quite engaging, but overall, my experience was fantastic.

The location was marvellous, close to local attractions. We lived in the king room with fridge, tea, for example. - Staff was super very-very nice. - It was stunningly beautiful and we would stay here again. I loved the amazing location near local attractions and the king room we stayed in was equipped with a fridge and tea facilities. the staff was incredibly friendly and the overall beauty of the place was stunning. We would definitely choose to stay here again in the future.
